Web Site Solutions & Early Bird Discounts

As you might imagine, we've been busy with preparations for the Self-Publishers Online Conference, which will be held May 12-14. I've been talking with speakers and sending out press releases. It's a ton of fun getting to spend time with such cool "book people."

As I've mentioned, you can attend the conference live for free, but if you want recordings or CDs, you need to upgrade your registration to a paid pass. If that's something you're interested in, be aware that our early bird discount ends in 2 days on April 30.

On a totally non-work related note, we've also been busy with our new rescue dogs. I forgot how much energy young dogs have and I confess that I'm physically exhausted.

Our adopted Samoyed Fiona is a hiking MACHINE. Nothing tires out The Tiny (But Mighty) Fi. At least I'm getting into better shape. (If you're on Facebook, "friend" me and you can see photos of our hike down to Lake Pend Oreille with the fuzzy white dogs.)

This week's article addresses a question I get a lot: "what's wrong with my Web site?"

9 Surprisingly Simple Web Site Solutions

With a few changes, your Web site can start working for your business instead of against it.

SPOC News – Early Bird Discount Ends Soon

It's only 15 days and counting until the Self-Publishers Online Conference and there's been a lot going on!

SPOC Behind the Scenes

If this is your first time attending SPOC, I encourage you to check out our new "Behind the Login" page, which shows you how SPOC differs from a typical "telesummit."

Whether you have opted for a Basic (no charge) pass or upgraded to a paid one, your login gives you access to the private area of the SPOC Web site.

There you'll find pages for each seminar, so you can listen online (and avoid long-distance charges). You'll also have access to our discussion feature, so you can ask questions before, during, or after the presentation, and "virtually mingle" with other attendees. You also can download presentation handouts, if the speaker has provided them.

The private area of the SPOC site also has an "Exhibit Hall," where you can see pages with information and special offers from our sponsors and exhibitors. You can use our "virtual badge swipe" feature to request more information from vendors.

Early Bird Discount Ends in 3 Days

If you can't attend all the sessions, you may want to consider purchasing a Standard or Premium Pass to access audio downloads or have CDs mailed to you.

Through the end of April, you'll notice we're offering these Passes at discounted prices. (The Early Bird Discounts end 4/30.) If you want to upgrade your pass, just let us know and we'll give you the scoop:

To Register for SPOC

Click the Register button in the upper right-hand corner, or use this direct link:

Don't forget that if you registered for SPOC last year, you are NOT registered for this year, so you'll want to sign up. Please be sure to register if you want to attend!

Everyone who registers also receives a discount on book promotion packages from our sponsor Send2Press. Some of our speakers are talking about offering discounts too. More on that as news develops.

The Logical Expressions exhibit hall pages will definitely include discounts, as will the one from our sponsor, the Small Publishers Artists and Writers Network (SPAWN)

SPOC and 17 Ways to Bundle Your Book

This week, we have been busy with various promotional efforts relating to the Self-Publishers Online Conference. It's only a month away now, and I sent out the first 2010 edition of SPOC News yesterday. I hope you'll all mark your calendars for May 12-14!

Plus, I'm pleased to report that when you register, you'll also get a discount on book promotion services from our new sponsor Send2Press. I've used their services to send out press releases about our own books, and of all the services I've used, they have offered the best online exposure. (I've gotten a ton of Google alerts on myself lately!)

Since marketing has been on my mind, this week's article focuses on how you can market your book more effectively by bundling it with other products.

Make the Choice to Become a Book Author (or Not)

I'm excited to report that although it snowed and hailed yesterday, crocuses are sprouting in my garden. (Just don't tell the local fauna that the salad bar is open.)

Today's article is about that annoying negative voice in your mind that complains, doubts, and basically chatters way too much about bad things that have happened in the past and bad things that could happen in the future. Whether you call it the "inner critic," subconscious, or the bad bully upstairs, sometimes you have to tell it to just shut up.

Choose to Become a Book Author

by Susan C. Daffron

To be a book author, you have to choose to take on the project and make the commitment to actually write the book.
