Thursday, the second day of the conference, dubbed "Promotion Day,"
is all about building a relationship with your target market and
ideal readership.
SPOC Promotion Day: Thursday, May 14 (all times are Pacific time)
8 AM - Social Media for Book Marketing: Build Communities of FANS!
- Shel Horowitz
Shel offers an overview of most important social media: Twitter,
Facebook, LinkedIn, Yahoogroups. You'll find out about the culture,
how to promote your products, how to build fans and why social
media is the book marketer's best friend.
11 AM - How to Build Buzz for Your Self-Published Book - Sandra
Beckwith
All authors need to promote their books and while those using the
traditional publishing model usually get a little help from the
publisher, self-published authors don't have any support at all
unless they purchase a pricy promotion package. "How to Build Book
Buzz" will teach conference participants how to snag priceless
media attention for their books, whether the books have been in
stores for one week or 101 weeks.
1 PM - Red Hot Internet Publicity 2.0 - Penny Sansevieri
If you think you have your Internet marketing covered with just a
web site, you might be missing out on a bucket of Internet gold.
This class is packed with information with everything from
understanding social media to monetizing sites like Facebook,
Squidoo, and Twitter. Penny will also talk about what you should
never do on your web site and why a blog is a must-have part of any
Internet campaign. We'll also look at some of the hottest online
trends too! Penny even includes some time-saving hints to maximize
your online efforts without spending HOURS online!
3 PM - The Buck Starts Here - Brian Jud, Book Marketing Matters
More than half of all books sold every year are sold to
non-bookstore buyers. Discover creative ways to find and contact
buyers in airport stores, supermarkets, discount stores, book
clubs, catalogs, corporations, associations, schools and government
agencies. Find out the best ways to contact each, the appropriate
discounts and how to reach them via personal sales calls, telephone
sales and direct marketing. You can sell more books more profitably
in a shorter period of time.
5 PM - After the Launch - Will you Sink or Swim? Carol White & Debi
Flora
You have your books "in hand," and you've done your launch party.
You've sold a copy to all your friends and family, and you've got
your web presence. And maybe you've even sent out a press release
and done a Facebook page. But now, the truth sets in: your book
isn't selling like you had hoped. Now what? This fact-filled,
entertaining session from two book pros will give you lots of ideas
to fill your "to do" list for the next several months as you
attempt to "swim" with your book.
Remember, it's free to attend the online conference-all you have to
do is register here:
